Your Guide to the New Rides at Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country

Everyone’s favorite theme park is getting some major additions this year! Visitors to Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country will soon be able to enjoy a number of thrilling new rides. To help you make the most of your next vacation in Pigeon Forge, Aunt Bug’s Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to all of the new rides at Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country.

Drop Line

Dollywood’s Drop Line opened on May 6, 2017, and guests haven’t stopped talking about it since! This 230 ft. tall free fall tower offers an exhilarating rush unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.A free fall tower at a theme park.

The new ride is located in the Timber Canyon section of the theme park, next to the Thunderhead wooden roller coaster. The first part of the ride consists of a slow climb to the top of the tower. As you make your way to the peak, the gondola turns 360 degrees, so passengers can take in breathtaking panoramic views of Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains.

When you reach the top of the tower, the fun really begins. In a split second, the gondola goes hurtling toward the ground in a dramatic free fall before the brakes are applied. Drop Line is truly the best of both worlds; offering gorgeous scenery and plenty of heart-pounding excitement. The ride is open to guests who are at least 4 feet tall.

Whistle Punk Chaser

Whistle Punk Chaser is another one of the great new rides at Dollywood. While Drop Line is already up and running, Whistle Punk Chaser is expected to open later this summer.

Located adjacent to Drop Line in the Timber Canyon area of the park, Whistle Punk Chaser is a junior roller coaster with lots of twists and turns that is open to anyone over 3 ft. tall. This ride is aimed at guests who aren’t tall enough to experience the park’s Thunderhead wooden roller coaster.

Whistle Punk Chaser’s unique name is a reference to the logging industry that was once a booming business in the Great Smoky Mountains. “Whistle punks” were lumberjacks who operated steam whistles that were used during the logging process.

TailSpin Racer

TailSpin Racer will debut at Dollywood’s Splash Country when the water park opens in May. This five-story tall water slide has six lanes, so you can race your family and friends to the finish line.
