We had a wonderful experience! The cabin was exactly what we wanted. It was clean, comfy and secluded. We were able to experience cabin life. My granddaughters loved the gaming areas. Everything was convenient. We were close to the downtown experience but far enough to enjoy the woodland hills. All of the staff at Aunt Bugs cabins were friendly and helpful. I reccomend Aunt Bugs to everyone who wants a great time and a very affordable price. I plan to visit again. Thank you!!

Location was great! Secluded but close to all attractions and the main strip. Perfect for a couples getaway, or for a small family. The view was beautiful as well. Can’t wait to come back!

Cabin was very nice. Hot tub, pool table, and arcade were great amenities. Only improvement we could suggest is king bed mattress was too firm and uncomfortable. Everything else was wonderful and we had a great time.

Very smooth check in/check out. Everything worked. Nice cabin-might want to look under the beds now and then-some lights were out, but not an issue. We have been several times-coming back in Sept-Aunt Bugs has always come through for us

Booking was extremely easy and the lady was VERY helpful. Our daughter got to the cabin first and had a difficult time locating our exact cabin, but the lady we called for assistance was able to get her directions - she was a few bends in the road too early by gps. The road to the cabin was EXTREMELY hard to navigate, barely wide enough for more than one car and in our F250, we just prayed every time we left/returned that we wouldn’t meet anyone on it! It was secluded, as we wanted and still managed to be close to the action! The cabin was exactly as pictured, and very nice. BUT EXTREMELY DUSTY AND LOTS OF COBWEBS EVERYWHERE!!! I even had a scorpion in the downstairs closet!! It definitely needs a few updates and I’m SURE the building code requires the outlets in the bathrooms and kitchen should be safety outlets - while they are located in these areas, the safety outlets AREN’T the ones closest to the water sources! There are pots & pans, but definitely not enough to really make dinner - need to add a few skillets AND pans for baking and check the stove - following package directions for cinnamon rolls and it burnt them with 5 minutes left to go on the short end of the directions. Beds were comfortable and clean and there were plenty of towels and wash rags AND coffee 🙂 ! Overall, I’d give a 3.75 stars - I found other cabin rentals after we booked that offered discount tickets to attractions - I did ask when I called back and was told to just ask for our discounts through Aunt Bug’s when we called attractions for tickets, but when called any place, we were told there weren’t discounts available. The cost was a little pricey per night. I would recommend family and friends, BUT I would also suggest addressing the issues before I’d recommend

This was our 2nd Aunt Bugs stay. (The first was a home on Hillbilly Haven Way off of Old Cartertown Road), and we were so comfortable at the Remote Retreat that we extended our stay two additional nights. The staff was friendly and very accommodating, check-in/check-out so very easy, and the location was convenient to everything, especially since we love the Wears's Valley, Townsend, and Cades Cove area. The home is spacious, open and extremely comfortable, the deck - very inviting, and being pet friendly was especially attractive. Our little guy loved walking around the house & sniffing the local greenery and grounds. It took some time to figure out the TV for just basic use, (we are not satellite/internet TV friendly and I am sure that we did not make full use of what is offered. Instructions might be helpful, but again, with each having remotes that worked differently, that might be a difficult task. Just an FYI,...the bottom shelf in the refrigerator door fell out when we first opened the door. Also, the inside curtain in the downstairs shower was torn, and we were careful not to extend the tear any further. Finally, please consider placing non-skid mats in each of the tubs. We needed to be careful an aware of the slickness of the tub floor each time we used it. In summary, we had a wonderful stay at the Secluded Retreat, and we will look into Aunt Bugs again when we plan what we think would be our 15th trip to the area. Many thanks..... The cabin was very clean and private. It was a perfect get-a-way that was isolated yet a close drive to everything. The hot tub was great and the furnishings in the cabin were up to date. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We plan to return and highly recommend to anyone looking for a great time in the mountains.

The cabin was overall very nice, however, the dishes and bed linens were dirty. Some of the kitchen cupboards had food crumbs in them and the hot tub had a bad smell to it. The cabin itself and location was beautiful, just needs better maintenance/ cleaning.

Great location! Great overall experience. Only gave it 4 instead of 5 stars due to cleanliness and lack of kitchen utensils and pans. It was not particularly dirty except the floors - they could use a good mopping. I would definitely recommend this cabin and rental agency.

Cabin was as pictured. Pool table was a bonus and was enjoyed. The cabin as mostly clean and comfortable with the exceptions of the floors. Needed good mopping badly and a few too many centipedes on downstairs floors. On last night stepped on and killed a little scorpion!

Cathy From Hallsville

Jul 18, 2019

Cabin and setting were beautiful, nicely decorated and supplied. Beds were comfortable. The pool table was added plus, our grandson kept us all busy playing with him. Only 2 problems that took away from a truly enjoyable experience. The floors needed good mopping (feet turned black right after baths) we wore foot wear all the time) there were also lots of centipedes on floors we stepped on constantly, yuk and last night there, while packing, our daughter-in-law actually stepped on a small scorpion. We took a picture and brought him home in a zip lock baggie. I understand it’s impossible to be completely bug free in the woods but didn’t expect there to be so many centipedes.

This is a beautifully decorated cabin with a floor plan that was perfect for us. It is indeed a secluded retreat. Parking is good at the cabin but the road up is narrow and winding. The cabin is very private and quiet. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, cups, glasses, but does not have a lot of other cookware. The beds, kitchen, etc. were very clean but the floors were pretty dusty as if they had not been cleaned well. We have stayed with Aunt Bugs several times and will definitely use them again. I would love to stay at this cabin again, too. Overall, it is beautiful and we would highly recommend it and Aunt Bugs.

The people at Aunt Bugs rentals where very polite and helpful. The cabin was a little hard to find, but once we found it was a very enjoyable stay. Loved the overall look of the cabin. We enjoyed our stay! The cabin was comfortable and fit our needs. There were a lot of cob webs and dust on the walls upstairs. Also, there needs to be animal proof trash storage. A raccoon dumped our trash can almost every night.

Very nice cabin. Clean but lots of cobwebs and dirty windows. The covers for the large pots don’t fit and the waterline to the fridge not hooked up for the ice maker. A few more garbage bags and toilet paper would have come handy. Really enjoyed the WiFi, TV, hot tub and pool table. Beds were nice as well. My daughter was constantly freaked out by spiders but I understand we are in the middle of the woods. Garbage cans were not usable due to raccoons and bears. You really need an enclosure for these. We would come back and even had a bear and cubs on the porch Thursday morning. Very fun to see.

We had a wonderful vacation. We will definitely be back again. Everything was clean and in working order. The pictures on the website were exactly like the cabin. #216 A Secluded Retreat is a great cabin. The only complaint we had is there needs to be a cage to put the garage cans in so the racoons can't get in them. Otherwise totally satisfied!! See you next year!! Thanks!!

Check in was fast and easy. Cabin was available when we arrived. Issues were you need to check behind your cleaning crews. There were spiders and webs in the kitchen window, webs strung from the kitchen clear to the back door, dead bugs on the trap glass ledge, and the worst part was the floor had been swept but NOT MOPPED. My grandbabies came by for a visit (both under the age of 2) and crawled around on the floors and knees and legs got pure black.

Everything was great, even got to check in a day early. Cabin was clean and ready for us, would suggest they leave extra toilet tissue for guests. But other than that minor inconvenience, there are no complaints.

-How is the drive to this cabin?
The drive to this cabin is steep and winding in areas. No 4 wheel drive necessary except during winter weather.
-How close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is this cabin?
This cabin is 5. 5 miles from the parkway of Pigeon Forge .
-How many vehicles will fit in the driveway?
We recommend bringing no more than 2 vehicles, of any size.
-Do I need to bring extra toilet paper, trash bags, paper towels, soap, etc?
YES… We provide 1 roll of toilet paper per restroom, one trash bag per trash can, 1 roll of paper towels in the kitchen. You are responsible for bringing your own extras. In this cabin, we also provide 8 towels and 8 wash clothes, 3 hand towels and dishwasher detergent. We do not provide shampoo, conditioner, lotions, laundry detergent, coffee or coffee filters, salt and pepper, charcoal for grills, daily maid service or flashlights/candles/matches (too often these items were taken home by guests so we stopped providing them).
-Is this cabin dog friendly?
Yes…But we limit to two dogs under 40lbs. and there is a $75.00 pet fee per pet per stay.
-Can I use the fireplace year round?
No. Local fire codes restrict the use of fireplaces April through September and we take this very seriously.
-Will I encounter wildlife?
Possibly. Black bears are attracted to food, so DO NOT leave food in your vehicles or unaccompanied food on decks and porches and grills. If you want to go outside and there is a bear outside, make loud noises they will leave. If you pull up to your cabin and there is a bear in the yard, blow the horn. They will leave.
And remember, you are surrounded by flourishing nature and a national wildlife reserve, so it’s not unusual for small animals to be heard around the house or bugs to get into your cabin. We do a very good job of spotting and cleaning bugs before your arrival, but we cannot guarantee they won’t return, just as you can’t prevent 100% of bugs from entering your own home. Please be respectful of the fact that we don’t have total control over nature. Just call us, and we will send up wildlife management people or pest control to get rid of any small animals or bugs for you.

-Will the hot tub be clean for my arrival?
Absolutely. Every hot tub is emptied, cleaned and refilled between stays. In fact the water may still need time to heat up on the day of your arrival. Just keep the cover on the hot tub and turn on the jets, as this will heat the hot tub quicker. To keep your hot tub clean for the length of your stay, keep the cover on the hot tub when not using it and rinse off your skin in the shower before entering the hot tub. Unwashed skin will dirty a hot tub quickly, and we only drain & clean the hot tubs after check-out. If there is sediment in your hot tub upon check-in, it is because your cabin’s water comes from a well.
