Popular Dollywood Festivals Return This Spring

The start of spring in Pigeon Forge means warmer weather, beautiful wildflowers, and (most importantly) the beginning of a new season at Dollywood! The South’s favorite theme park opens its doors in mid-March for another year of thrilling rides, incredible entertainment, and family fun. In addition to all of Dollywood’s permanent attractions, the park also hosts two special spring celebrations: the Festival of Nations and the Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival. To help you make the most of your spring vacation, Aunt Bug’s Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to these hugely popular Dollywood festivals.

Dollywood Festival of Nations

Visiting Dollywood during the Festival of Nations is like taking a trip around the world! From mid-March through early April, Dollywood hosts numerous international entertainers who perform free shows at the theme park. More than two dozen countries will be represented at the theme park during the festival. The Dollywood Grist Mill on a spring day.

One of the most hotly anticipated returning acts at the Festival of Nations is Mother Africa, a one of a kind show featuring live music, dancing, acrobatics, comedy, and beautiful costumes. Rather than showcasing the culture of just one country in Africa, the Mother Africa troupe features cast members from all around the continent. Other popular acts at the Dollywood Festival of Nation include:

  • A steel pan orchestra from the Caribbean
  • Yodelers from the Swiss Alps
  • A Scottish bagpipe player
  • A Polish dance troupe
  • Musicians from the Andes Mountains
  • An Irish harp and flute duo

In addition to all of the excellent entertainment, guests at the festival will enjoy delicious food from across the globe. With everything from Japanese teriyaki to Colombian tacos, the international cuisine at Dollywood is sure to delight.

Dollywood Barbeque & Bluegrass Festival

The Barbeque & Bluegrass celebration is another one of the year’s most beloved Dollywood festivals. While the Festival of Nations puts the spotlight on music and food from abroad, the Barbeque & Bluegrass Festival is all about two of Tennessee’s greatest art forms: delicious smoked meats and beautiful music.

Guests will enjoy pulled pork, smoked chicken breast, smoked sausage, and mouthwatering ribs. Of course, you can also expect all of your favorite Southern side dishes, like corn on the cob, collard greens, and baked beans.

While you chow down on all of the tasty BBQ, you will have the chance to enjoy free concerts from some of the biggest bluegrass bands in the nation! To see the schedule for this year’s musical entertainment, check out the official lineup of Barbeque & Bluegrass performers.
