Pigeon Forge Amusement Park Sets Date for Reopening

Kids on a roller coaster in sunsetWhen you visit Pigeon Forge, you’re sure to spend a little time at Dollywood. On January 4, 2014, after their final Smoky Mountain Christmas celebration, the Pigeon Forge attraction locked up for the winter.

Since its closing, there have been crews at Dollywood preparing for the new addition to the park for the upcoming 2014 season. The park is set to reopen with a brand new family-style dual launch roller coaster on March 22, 2014. The roller coaster is the first part of the $300 million project that Dolly Parton announced in August 2013.

New Coaster

Dollywood’s biggest fans have been counting down the days to wait in line for the new ride. The FireChaser Express is Tennessee’s first dual launch roller coaster that is perfect for kids and adults at least 39” tall. The coaster will give families a forward and backward ride in the mountains.

Opening Schedule

Dollywood will reopen on March 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. The park will be open 6 days per week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturday, the park will stay open until 8 p.m., so families can catch an extra hour of ride time. The Pigeon Forge amusement park will be closed on Tuesdays.
