Dollywood Celebrates the Best of the South With Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival

Banjo playerThere are two things the South does better than everywhere else in the world: barbequed meat and bluegrass music. If you’re a fan of these Smoky Mountain traditions, be sure to make your way over to Dollywood this summer for the annual Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival! For 16 days, everyone’s favorite theme park will host a series of amazing concerts from some of the biggest names in bluegrass while serving up heaping helpings of delicious BBQ.  Whether you’re a music fan, a foodie, or both, this is one Dollywood festival you do not want to miss!

When and Where

The Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival will run from May 24 through June 8, 2014. All of the events will be held at the Dollywood theme park, located at 2700 Dollywood Parks Boulevard, Pigeon Forge Tennessee 37863.

Concert Series

As part of the festival, there will be over 250 musical performances at Dollywood this summer. The best part about Barbeque and Bluegrass is that all of these concerts are completely free with park admission!

One of the most famous bluegrass bands coming to Pigeon Forge this summer is the Grammy Award winning Riders in the Sky. Having toured together for 37 years, this tight knit band is also known for the hilarious comedy skits they perform between songs. Your children might remember them from Toy Story 2, where they performed the theme tune to “Woody’s Roundup”! Riders in the Sky will perform at Dollywood on May 26 and 27.

Other highlights of the festival’s concert series include:

The Time Jumpers – May 24, 25

The Willis Clan – May 27,28,29,30,31, and June 1

The Gibson Brothers – May 30 – 31, and June 1

Balsam Range – June 4,5,6
