3 Tips to Prepare for Your Stay in Our Pet Friendly Cabins in the Smoky Mountains

A vacation to the Smokies is the perfect chance to relax and unwind with your family, but as fun as taking a trip away is, it just doesn’t feel right to leave the family pup behind. He’s your kids’ best friend and your most loyal companion, so treat your pet to a well deserved vacation, too! When you book your stay in our pet friendly cabins in the Smoky Mountains, we guarantee an unforgettable vacation for all family members, canines included! To make sure you have the best weekend ever, we’ve put together a list of 4 important tips help you prepare for your getaway!

1. Pick the Perfect Cabin

The first step to planning a perfect vacation is to browse through all of our pet friendly cabins in the Smoky Mountains and pick the perfect one to suit your family’s needs. Are you vacationing with just your spouse and your pup? If so, a small cabin with 1 or 2 bedrooms will be more than enough room for you to unwind and feel right at home. If you’re traveling with several children or extended family like aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents, you may want to consider a cabin with 4 or 5 bedrooms! We want you and your crew to be able to spread out and feel comfortable during your stay with us, and we have all different sizes of cabins to ensure you have exactly what you need.

One of our favorite pet friendly cabins in the Smoky Mountains is Heavenly Hideaway, a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom cabin that comfortably sleeps 6 people. This beautiful cabin has breathtaking mountain views, a secluded hot tub, a game room with a pool table and lots of other amenities to make your mountain vacation a blast!

2. Research Pet Friendly AttractionsA family hiking in the woods with their dog on a fall day.

In order to make the most of your time in the mountains, you’ll want to have a plan for where you want to go and which places are pet friendly. From hiking, shopping and even sightseeing from high in the sky, Gatlinburg TN is full of fun attractions that your pet will love, too!

If you like the idea of exploring nature while hiking the trails, there are a couple hikes that allow dogs. Gatlinburg Trail is a nearly 2 mile walk that outlines the city. You’ll experience beautiful river views and a relatively flat path. Oconaluftee River Trail is another pet friendly trail that is short but still offers a few hills and plenty of gorgeous scenery.

If you think shopping and sightseeing with your pup sounds like the perfect day, you’ll be excited to learn about The Village Shops, a collection of 27 specialty shops and unique storefronts that touts everything from clothing boutiques, candy shops and even a pet shop where you can get a special treat for your 4-legged critter!

After shopping, treat your family and your pup to breathtaking bird’s eye views of the city from the Gatlinburg Sky Lift! You’ll soar to heights 1,800 feet above the ground and experience the mountains like never before!

3. Pack all Puppy Essentials

It sounds obvious, but making sure you pack everything your pup needs can be easily lost in the mix of getting your family ready for your trip. Is your dog on any special medications? If so, be sure you have plenty of doses to get you through the whole trip. It can be a challenge and an unnecessary chore to find a pharmacy during vacation. Is your dog picky about food or on a special diet? Pack all the food and treats that your pet will need during your trip in order to avoid spending your vacation time at the grocery store. And finally, make sure your dog has a collar with a name tag and all other necessary tags, a harness and a strong leash. It is important to keep your pup safe and secure during your fun weekend to our pet friendly cabins in the Smoky Mountains!
